Questions from Whiting, East Chicago, Munster and Highland
Short, plain answers for people selling a junk car in the four towns around Hammond, Indiana. If yours isn't here, send the car details through the offer form and ask on the call.
Titles and paperwork
Do I need a title to sell my junk car?
No title? We can still help. To sell a junk car in Indiana you need one of two BMV papers: the title itself (a BMV duplicate is $15) or a BMV certificate of authority ($4), which you apply for by proving the car is yours; your current registration is one way to do that. Any car newer than 15 model years has to have one of those two papers by law. Tell us what you have, whether that's a bill of sale, a registration or an insurance card, and on the call we'll say which route suits your car.
What does the title question on the form mean?
It asks which you have: the title (Yes), nothing (No), or the registration only. Pick the closest one; we sort out the details on the call.
The car is in someone else's name. Can I sell it?
The person whose name is on the paperwork needs to be part of the sale. Tell us the situation on the call and we'll say what would work.
Emissions and older cars
My car failed the Lake County emissions test. Will you buy it?
Yes. A failed test doesn't stop a sale. Our emissions testing guide explains where the program stands in 2026 and your options after a fail.
Is emissions testing ending in Lake County?
Not yet. Indiana's SEA 103 aims at an eventual phase-out, but as of 30 September 2026 testing continues and no end date has been set.
Pickup and parking
Is towing free?
Yes. Nothing for the tow comes off the offer.
How soon can you pick up?
Same-day pickup is often possible. We confirm the time on the call.
My car is in an alley or a packed lot. Is that a problem?
Usually not. Tell us exactly where it sits, whether it rolls and steers, and what's around it. The tight-spaces guide covers the details.
Does the car need to run?
No. We tow cars that won't start, won't steer or shouldn't be driven.
Can the truck collect from a repair shop or an HOA lot?
Yes. A repair shop, an apartment lot or an HOA lot all work. Let the shop or the manager know when the truck is coming.
I have more than one car. Is that one trip?
It can be. A single visit can clear several cars, so list every one on the call.
What are your hours?
From 06:00 to 21:00, Monday through Sunday, Central Time.
Damage and condition
Do you buy flood-damaged cars?
Yes, flooded hybrids and electric cars included. Tell us how high the water got and what the car does now. The flood guide covers the Indiana title rules for flood damaged vehicles.
Do you buy wrecked cars?
Yes, including cars an insurer wrote off, as long as the car is still yours to sell.
What about burned-out cars, trucks and SUVs?
Bring them on. Cars, trucks, vans and SUVs are all bought, whether fire got to them, water did, or someone stripped the parts.
Do you buy good running cars?
We buy junk, wrecked and scrap cars. A healthy used car will usually fetch more from a dealer or a private buyer.
Payment
When am I paid?
At pickup, the moment you sign the car over: in cash, or by app (Cash App, Zelle or another digital payment).
Does the offer expire?
No. Our number has no deadline attached, so decide in your own time.
Is the offer the amount I get?
The offer is for the car as you described it. If something important was left out, like a missing engine or a different model, tell us before pickup so the offer is right.
